4entrepreneur: Your tag line ‘Water with intention’: Please elaborate the mission behind the slogan.

A:  Our intention is to inspire individuals to create daily positive thoughts and intentions. The interactive quality of H2Om encourages them to live from a present, grateful state of awareness. To provide a clean source of natural spring water which has never been exposed to chemicals or groundwater contamination while educating consumers on how to keep our watersheds and water resources safe and clean. To align with and support organizations working to heal water issues on local, national and global levels.

We believe by providing a clean water source with a focus on positive energy and education, we can inspire masses of people to participate in recycling and the protection of our most precious resource on the planet ~WATER.

Our vision for H2Om is to inspire people across the world to create positive intention in their own lives and inspire them to actively participate in creating positive change on the planet.

4entrepreneur: How is H2Om water different from other water products in the market?:

H2Om is natural mountain spring water, which has never been exposed to chemicals or groundwater contamination. It is pure high mountain spring water, not municipal water. The water is from a 14,000yr old spring and we never allow any chemicals, fluoride or agricultural waste to come in contact with the water. We are also a non-source dependant company, so we have sourced other high mountain springs that meet our standards that will allow us to provide product regionally as we expand. This is much more sustainable than shipping water around the world.

The interactive quality of H2Om encourages our customers to live from a present, grateful state of awareness and focus on a positive thought and feeling. We are the first company to bring this idea to water and provide an inspirational message in a bottle.

Our seven intentions are Love, Perfect health, Gratitude, Prosperity, Will Power, Joy and Peace. Our slogan is “Think it While You Drink It”, reminding individuals to take that moment and focus on a positive thought.

We educate consumers on how to keep our watersheds and water resources safe and clean. We believe the most effective way to create change is to educate and create awareness. We participate in events that give us the opportunity to share information with the consumer that will improve the quality of their lives and our planet.

H2Om Natural Spring water provides an alternative bottled water choice and is recommended by the Environmental Media Association and recognized by the Wall Street Journal as creators of a new water segment. In 2007 we were voted as one of STYLE.COM’s 5 Great Enhanced Waters, and in 2008 given a Top Gear Award in the natural and organic health industry.

4entrepreneur: Any motivational stories related to your entrepreneurial journey while launching this venture that you would like to share?

We launched the web site and business on February 14th, 2006 and the response was overwhelming!  We got calls the next day from Sting and the Rainforest Foundation, The Wall Street Journal, Canada National Post, and press and publications from around the World.

Some of the greatest rewards are the many people that write in to share their stories of how H2Om has helped them heal themselves of cancer, stop smoking, improve their attitude in life, and lead a life rooted in being present and grateful.

One of the most powerful stories was of a Compton High School Counselor that used the water as a tool to teach the power of focusing on a positive intention to her students.  Many of her students are impoverished, illiterate, gang members and juvenile delinquents. After several weeks she reported heightened student morale, improved grades and test scores, and no riots! Her counselor office was full of hopeful teens, excited to learn more. The principal was amazed and wanted to know what she was giving the students.

4entrepreneur: What are the measures that you have taken to keep H2Om products socially responsible and eco-friendly?

We are very conscious about every choice we make for our product and marketing. We look at the long term impact of those choices. We believe that the most effective way to create positive change in our environment, and for the health of our planet, is through education. H2Om has an educational mission, which helps empower the consumer with ways to keep their local groundwater and watersheds clean, as well as recycling education, easy tips to create a better planet, and the importance of intention and focusing on positive thoughts in your life. We actually place educational tips and information for the consumer on our boxes.

We are a socially and environmentally responsible company, whose mountain spring, bottling facility, and offices are all local to California. We route manage all local deliveries and uses small low emission vehicles. We use recycled or tree free papers, soy inks, and go paperless with digital press kits and marketing materials as much as possible.

Our product is packaged in safe BPA, phlalate FREE, 100% Recyclable bottles and labels. Our resin is manufactured in an eco friendly hydro powered plant in Costa Rica and bottles are heat blown locally, as apposed to using plastic bottles and resins which are manufactured and shipped in from China. We have a published glass vs plastic report, and are currently testing new experimental organic plastic resins and additives that will not harm the consumer or environment. We speak out against the contamination of our municipal water supply , against pesticide use and GMO products and corn plastic resins.

Through our partnership with Carbonfund.org we completely offset our carbon footprint on the planet through wind and solar power, while proceeds from revenues help to benefit organizations creating education on recycling and awareness relating to world water issues and our environment.

4entrepreneur: How did you come up with the idea of launching H2Om water

A: It all began in May of 2004 while honeymooning on the beautiful island of Kauai. One morning we were meditating on Poipu Beach. As part of our meditation, we sent positive blessings for the planet into the ocean, asking the water to carry that energy out into the world so that anyone who was touching the water would receive our positive intentions.

After our meditation, we walked into town for lunch. On the table of the restaurant was the local publication “Inspiration Magazine”.  The cover story read “The Miracle of Water ~ Send your Blessings into the World” the work of Dr. Masaru Emoto.  It was an article on water and its unique ability to retain information. We acknowledged the synchronicity and said “wow, we were just doing this!” After returning back to the mainland we started to tape positive words on our bottles of water, inspiring family and friends to do the same.

A few months later we saw the hit film “What the Bleep Do We Know ?#!” The film featured Dr. Emoto’s research and documentation of water’s receptivity.  The morning after seeing the film at 5am, Lex awoke from a powerful dream and saw a banner, with images of the bottles and the name “H2Om ~ Water with Intention”, ‘Think it while you drink it” and the positive words “Love, Prosperity, Gratitude, Peace , Joy, etc ” floating in front of him.  That was the day we decided a message so strong should not be ignored, and we started the process of creating H2Om.

Almost two years later in February of 2006 we opened our doors for business.

4entrepreneur: Are you or your organization tied to any social entrepreneurship initiatives?

We, the founders, are project members of SEE Social and Environmental Entrepreneurs, and in 2001 founded The Love Planet Foundation a 501 c-3 non profit dedicated to creating environmental awareness and education through the powerful medium of film, television, music and live events. Founder Sandy Fox is host and creator of the Internet radio show “Blue Water Planet” on iamhealthyradio.com bringing new water technology and information to the masses.

We are also active in our community as leaders working to create positive change and education for environmental issues. We work in alignment with many environmental leaders and non-profits to help get their message out into the world. We are trained under Dr. Masaru Emoto as HADO Instructors and are working to bring new science of water to the forefront. We helped launch the documentary film WATER in the United States and are actively working with Black Mesa Trust and the HOPI and Navajo nations to heal water issues on the Black Mesa and bring the information of the indigenous elders to light.

4entrepeneur: Aligning with the theme of our 4entrepreneur initiative, do you have any advice for aspiring entrepreneurs to undertake meaningful projects like yours?

Most definitely! Don’t be afraid to step outside the box of mainstream business. Be creative, take risks, be smart and follow your instincts. As eco entrepreneurs we are creating a new way of doing business that is more meaningful and has significant great purpose. This new mission based paradigm not only benefits the creators, founders and employees of the company, but the greater good of humanity. Consciously create products and services that you are passionate about and contribute to the betterment of the planet and our society, not the destruction or degradation of it. Let your innovative spirit fly and find ways to continually improve on how you operate and what you produce. Collaborate! Creative collaboration allows many people in alignment with the same mission to come together in partnership and help each other grow. Find those people and businesses you resonate with and form alliances. Seek out mentors and when you make your success be sure to “pay it forward”, become a mentor and help others who are in alignment with your work. It is rewarding to be apart of something that is much greater than yourself and know that you are making a difference in someone’s life and the world.

If you would like to join H2Om in creating positive change on the planet, investment opportunities are available to support the expansion of this inspirational product. Contact Lex Lang or Sandy Fox at 818-761-5288 or [email protected].
